Respect the dead

Respect the dead

A Poem by terry smith

Jimmie.....dead
Tom.....rehab
Dave...divorced ...and on the run
so many of them
gone now
Steve..the carpel tunnel fiasco cost him a claw
man his pallet is genius
I use him now
as a talking dictionary of favors
because he has the same affliction I have
and that is why he loves it
and I love it
and that is why we do it
there can be
no other reason
we give up
so much for it
and it will eventually kill us all

Great dance of words and thoughts my friend.
"and that is why he loves it
and I love it
and that is why we do it "
I liked the above lines. Honest, true and direct. Thank you Terry for sharing the excellent poetry.

This is absolutely beautiful! The story is illustrated so beautifully. I love the way that you can take your affliction as drugs or writing. It sounds like a combination of the two. I look forward to reading more of your writing!

writing is like a drug...to me...and maybe it will kill us in the end, but i fear rehab even more than that death.
