The Surfer

The Surfer

A Poem by taylorjaymes

This eclipse hurts my eyes
I know not where you're going to
Could you imagine my surprise
When at the midnight hour there was a new moon?

Would it matter if I gave it a million tries?
Or would I surf forever before the swell would come?
It wouldn't matter what magic love buys
I'd bottom out before the day is done

This eclipse hurts my eyes
Is it too much to ask to go down hard?
Lost in the tide by the pier is where she lies
And I drew an ace of cups from the tarot cards

It will be too late by the time she'll realize
That the three are no longer aligned
When will it be that my hands are sanitized?
And my thoughts on you are reassigned?

This eclipse hurts my eyes
Even so, I can't help but paddle out
I sit and wait for just the right size
But with each ebon flow I have my doubts

This eclipse hurts my eyes
And from the size of the waves, you are so hard to find
I cannot think to compare our lives
And from staring at the sky, I am blind
