Always wanted more

Always wanted more

A Poem by Talia
"

A poem about wanting something more from someone.

"
We were only sixteen
Shooting the breeze
It was the perfect scheme
I'm sure you have foreseen

That I'm falling for you
All over again
Can you feel it too?
We’re breaking the chain

You know you hold the key
To my wounded heart
Can you finally see?
We need a fresh start

So I stand up tall
With my heart on my sleeve
And break down my wall
Hoping you believe

That it isn't wrong to say I love you
nonetheless, my soul will pour
I'll fall apart like I often do
I always wanted more

This might be a poem about unrequited love, but I think it's much deeper. This captures a sense of inadequacy, maybe the narrator, maybe his/her mate, the absolute, unspoken certainly the two parts don't make a whole. Something's lacking, maybe from each person, but the result is the same. The two parts can't sustain each other, and at least one person just can't accept the reality that her or his everything just isn't enough. This is a pain most of us have felt at some point in our lives, and you've captured it in one poem.

Thanks for reading!
I feel that there is an unrequited nature to the love you speak of, however in that nature there is the risk taken and the beauty that enables us to experience, yes pain, but also redemption and ultimately all the joy and sadness of what it is to take a chance, not just in love, but in life. When you write breaking the chain, I feel it’s all said in that one line...breaking the chain of whatever continuity there be, so as to experience something different for a hopeful, or indeed hopeless moment. I hope I’m at least somewhere on the page of your experience here!

I did! Thank you for sharing!
This is a lovely write about love and hope. It is brave and full of purpose towards the end after a more uncertain start, as one might often feel when it comes to love.
