Criticism of Public Figures...

Criticism of Public Figures

It's not a matter of being unkind;
I think it's more like look 'round and you'll find.
But those in the spotlight
Should not do what's not right
And further act as though we are all blind.

Ted Cruz in Iowa

Now tea party darling Ted Cruz
In his Iowa visits will choose
To fill heads with drivel
With manner uncivil!
He (yawn) just makes me want to snooze.

Franklin Graham in the News

Franklin Graham with his usual motifs

And choosing his words to defame,

Says he’s attacked for his religious beliefs

Though HE is the one taking aim.

One target is Sharia law

“Because it’s intolerant,” you see.

To that I must simply say, “Pshaw!”

Tell me, how tolerant is he?

Gays seeking equality, he declares,

Displays their agenda, which is

Nonsense. It’s not really theirs.

The agenda here’s definitely HIS!

Graham, who enjoys all his rights,

Resorts to his tactics nefarious.

The reaction he therefore invites

If not so sad would be hilarious.

How could a person profess

To follow Christ’s teachings yet be

One to so eagerly oppress

Other people. Wow! It’s beyond me!

Sarah Palin Again in the Spotlight?

Is Sarah Palin in the spotlight again?

Oh, how she devours that attention!

To that add the dollars she makes--

Not a mere pittance, need I mention?

She waves her American flag,

Calling all of her followers to rally,

And then spouts off more inane phrases

Than I could possibly tally.

“Sarah, we love you!” they yell.

“Sarah, you are our savior!”

Do they not see how their fawning

Encourages her obnoxious behavior?

She says that for certain the country

Is heading in the wrong direction.

Her jingoistic solutions

Came out in the 0-8 election.

You would never really know it

If she had some insightful suggestions,

For in her many interviews

She’ll talk all around people’s questions.

She was asked where she got information--

What sources she would peruse.

There was nothing! Was she too embarrassed

To admit it was ONLY Fox News?

Yes, I still wonder how she--

With her voice so piercing and brittle--

Can talk and talk so much

And actually say so little.

Wasn't Sarah Palin, a quitter. Losing again. I try not to listen to the politicians. Too many promises. Was a hell of a election. Could be some rough years to come. Thank you for sharing your views. Thank you Bob for sharing your words and your thoughts. I do appreciate.

Usually I'm all over your political messages, but this time, not so much. Of all the nefarious characters to choose from these days, to me, this is a pathetic selection of people that don't matter in today's political tableau. Does Sarah Palin deserve this much of your time or mine? Writing about her is like the Republicans constantly bringing up Hillary Clinton -- who cares??!!! In a social climate where everyone is beating a loud drum, choose your arguments carefully (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

This made me laugh out loud. This is pretty brilliant, honestly. Very well thought out and reads like butter. Nicely done :)

It's a national sport isn't it. sticking pins in the inflated egos of those who bask in their own limelight.

Last verse is spot on. I've never known a politico to actually answer a straight question, with a straight answer?

I know this write is over three years old - but it does highlight one crucially important issue - the opportunity of free speech! Not a luxury of writers in some countries – its worth celebrated still enjoying ours! :-)
