Anguish

Anguish

A Poem by Terry Ellis
"

A dark time

"

Anguish

Leaders lie our nation cries
of wars and terrorists, a country
swayed with people betrayed.
Nowhere to go our souls remain
so strained, we scream for help and
times of long ago. Nowhere to start,
the heart is torn with much alarm.
We cry, we scorn the ways that warn
of destruction and frustration of life
and degrees of transformation, to pathways
shadowed by lies and tales which
detail sorrow and grief.
Males and females, young and old, rebirth
from earth and all that is known, we’ve
grown so cold how can we be so bold
to think we know the way?
We’ve strayed we need to get back
to the days of old, and not be quite so
cold. We sold our souls.
I scream, “Help us all before we fall in
anguish and in pain.”

Your thoughts Dear Lady, are very deep. I had to reread a couple of times to get it all.
This is a brilliant piece, well written and so true. The world has changed and is changing
and not for the better.
Our leaders do lie, we have been betrayed, the people no longer feel empathy as we once did.
Honesty and integrity are things of the past, gone the way of chivalry, old fashioned and obsolete.
Incredibly insightful read. Thanks for sharing your thought.
