Gain the World

Gain the World

A Poem by tgplano
"

How long have you denied a passion, the thing that could make you and keep you truly alive?

"

Dare to flicker inward

It’s there

one spot craven and glued

to your heart and soul

won’t can’t pass away

melt

be overtaken.

See the branches? Thick, thin, meandering

sucked through years of denial

and can’t do can’t be

because of

what?

Don’t cry.

Not now to fly with a hand out

to grab and clutch.

Wait focus breathe the scent

ignore the odor

touch the velvet

shoulder away the thorns

Gently.

There. Yours.

time to nurture and ignore

can’t won’t mustn’t shouldn’t.

Won’t live alone

without it can you live?
