You Have Been Bound And Gagged For A Reason

 

If you would not have divided the

things you wanted to say among

many different personas

and if you would have spoken directly

these hateful things

to me

it might have destroyed me

and destroyed any chances

of "us"

 

your hate, disbelief, mocking, and schemes

if it all would have come from the horses' mouth

straight into me

would have been too much poison all at once

 

You think this is your own ploy

but little do you know

a greater hand is at work

using your own defiance

to wrap the duct tape around your own mouth

and prevent you from

hurting me further

 

You have been muffled

not silenced

just diffused

your thoughts and expressions leak out slowly

I am able to check in and receive what I am able

at my own choosing

take a little here and a little there

 

my reactions and angry responses

to your ignorance

have been your education

 

I will not hear your true voice

until it's safe
