Mirror

A Poem by thatemogirl16

You’re going out looking like that?
My makeup is like a black paint bucket had fallen on my face
My outfit is the result of a tornado at a metal rock band concert
My hair is black, spiked up hair with red bangs like a bump-it
My reflection
Aren’t you going to change?
No, I don’t have to listen to you!
You don’t want society staring at you, do you?
I hoisted the white chipped frame of the reflecting surface
To the sky and back
S att ed
h er
My face forms a Cheshire cat smile
My feet lead me out the front door with excitement
My self-confidence can now be freed from the weight the world has placed on me called
Expectations
