television frequencies

television frequencies

A Poem by Brett G. Palmer

television frequencies

by brett g. palmer

a little broken up and a mess and a half

is America

with these straight people invested in

MONEY and POWER

and they just give off that bad vibe, man, you know?

the real people are the only people

and they hack away at the

BAD SCENE

by being all up front

and loaded

“have you drank the kool-aid”

and they do their own thing

like rap on one another

or rap on the soil

or rap on God because - and here is the part -

they are God

or rap on the visceral way the sun beams off the veins of the palm tree leaves radiant green kind of like grass but different because we are on

acid

el-es-dee

and America’s a drag

and somebody says, “how about we change the channel?”
