Life's Glass

Life's Glass

A Poem by A. J. Kingsley
"

A sort of reflection on my past self, and the acceptance of my current self.

"
Remember what it was like to be described as bubbly?
Like there was too much joy being poured into your cup of personality
that the fizz just spilled over like foam in a cold glass of soda.
Well, like soda, my person has gone flat.

Pops and fizzes are replaced with little bubble and flavor
due to being left too long in the room temperature of reality.
The fizz is still in the initial pour, but instead of bubbling over
it merely teases the edge of the glass before falling flat once more.

With so little time to enjoy our glass of life,
maybe we just have to finish our drink in the moment it's poured.
Or maybe it's not the same drink at all.
Maybe, much like wine, an old age means we have longer to enjoy it.
