self actualization

If knowledge is truly power, then words are the weapon
I truly wish this is all that was stocked in the arsenal of our governments.
If the mighty have truly fallen, then we pushed ourselves over
I truly wish we would learn to stand on our own and abandon faith in the external
No hand can save you, no word can lift you but those of your own.

Words avalanche down upon society from crumbling souls
Yet souls with no light inside can never reflect, so what good is a truth faced
Survival blossoms into living only if you act, asking god will just cement you in faith
Hold out your hand to show you are willing to accept and you might be touched
Speak your words to show that you are willing to accept that you might be heard

Just do not wait to hear that voice
Just do not wait to feel that touch
How can you drive forward with any success
While still staring out the rear view window
Take the controls as all the answers are inside, the highway just has signs

What can I say? My expectations were fulfilled. Impressed as always :) Self actualization is something we all have to go through. I do hope this poem will trigger something in some people, or maybe even be that final drop for that 'click' in their minds that'll get them moving in life.

I find it funny how when you write something you like, it gets no attention. You write something that you think is a bit shite and it gets reviewed. I wrote this while bored in a lecture and confess I find it weak, like I failed to deliver a message. Goes to show that as a 'writer' you can never judge your own work! Thank you Cate.
