Afraid to Love Alone

Afraid to Love Alone

A Poem by Mark Anthony Games (Human Voice)
"

A prose about the fragility of love.

"
Afraid to Love Alone

In the harsh hours,
Through the darkest days.
You realise that nothing really matters,
Except the arm around your shoulders.
The hand holding yours so very tight

So in the fear of coldness,
The denial of Truth.
You come to see and find
There is no one there.
No echo to the cry of your soul.

For if there is no truth,
No commitment, no cause,
Then you find it all gets pushed away.
No one can love a lie,
And a heart of stone can never absorb.

So I am so very sorry,
I just want you to know that.
For nothing really matters now
Without your love in my soul,
Without a place to belong.

If you had only blessed me
I would have walked so close beside you.
You did not break my heart,
You slowly tore it to pieces
Like petals from a wishing flower

So now all we dared dream and hope for
Drifts on the breeze to fall and rot like autumn leaves.
Now we are both alone again,
Longing for the kind of soul
We just allowed to slip away.

Solitude, loneliness, regrets on things and feelings that were not given importance, pain and hurt. Superb, not many can write from the heart like this. This is amazing, I love your poem.
You have a great talent as a writer, the ability to create an emotional poem with simple forms of writing. Poetry is a way of expression. Something you do, rather well. Keep up the great work.

That painful ache is palpable on your page, broken hearts, torn souls and petals that are no longer as you formerly viewed them when love was still blissful. Heartrending.
