Ch. 47 Promises and Regrets

It takes ten minutes

to find parking

close to Miles's house.

It doesn't surprise

me or Will

that half the teenagers in town

are here.

There isn't one person

in the whole school

that hasn't been

to one of Miles's parties.

It's a unanimous vote

that he throws

the best parties.

That's because he has a huge house,

a pool,

a hot tub,

a trampoline,

the best stereo system ever,

great food,

an enormous basement with every game ever invented,

and a twenty-three year old brother that

never seems to mine

buying some drinks.

A lot of people seem surprised

that I'm there.

No one has really seen me

for three weeks.

I hear them whispering about me.

I know what they're saying.

This isn't like the toy store.

Everyone here knows what happened.

I want to leave.

But I promised Johnny.
