Only words

Only words

A Poem by Sean Eddingfield
"

A bit more darkness... I can't seem to get it all out.

"

You screamed at me.

You tore my flesh

and my heart

and my spirit.

Time passed...

and you were sorry.

"After all..."

you said...

"They were only words.

Only words."

You wrote in your book.

You laughed at me.

And mocked me

and my life

and my mind.

You said I wasn't supposed to see.

You just write.

You dont think.

Why am I crying...

After all...

They are only words.

Only words.

You leave me.

I look down upon this note

with black ink

and my tears

and my blood.

This letter

is all that I have left of you.

Only words.

Only words.

Now I stand in this graveyard.

In the rain

and the wind

and the storm.

Though it is not there...

not really...

I can still see the blood

on my hands.

Blood as red

as the rose

that I place by your stone.

And what is left of you?

Written on this stone...

Only words.

Only words.

Sometimes words do though. The progression of this was well done. I like the story line as well. Kudos.
