Mouse

Mouse

A Poem by Manda A.

 9/25/06

I am a prim and proper one

Stomach clenching at every

Reoccurrence of discomfort

This night, blanketed with hints of frost

Somnambulism at its best

Sleep the furthest thing from my agenda

During these dim dawn hours

I try to regain a piece of mind

But it’s gone all askew

I’ve gone all askew

I try to justify the lies you’ve told

I try to justify the secrets I withhold

How much longer?

Plastering on this smile ‘till I’m done for

You’ve got me in some sort of

Safety deposit box

Watching my desperate attempts to gasp for air

Ignoring that you’re standing there

Pretending all is well, and fair is fair

But in this waking hour, I

Just don’t know how

My feeble plans have foiled me so

Lacking finesse to the highest degree

A zombie, you’ve made me

This pit in my stomach; morning premonition

Is there, will always be

Second fiddle

Subordinate one

Screaming at the top of her lungs

Now, now

Look what you’ve gone and done

Your eyes, I’m hiding from

* The flying insect stings

Leaves another welt

On her gray skin

A quiet night.

“My,

You’ve made such strange bedfellows…” *

And in the brightness of the day

An impasse

We’re off separately

Dealing with the things that nowhere near begin

To concern one another with.

There's a lot of lines I loved in this poem Amanda but I wont name
them because people get upset sometimes when you do this. I had
to sit back and smile when I was done. Your a great writer and I
look forward to reading more of your.

This is fantastic poetry...I think many of us can relate. Exceptionally and intelligently expressed :)

This is really good!
I'm not the best with poems even though I do try to write them.
I like to read poems written by other people and try to relate with what is going on. Because a poem can mean a lot of things to different people.

But I really like your style =]
