Chocolate Demon

Chocolate Demon

A Poem by Marni A. K.

Chocolate,

so sweet is the Milky Way

to travel to space and stay in bed

inhibitions and rationality

gone in a caramel bite

one,two, three

what was i thinking

i haven't gotten sleep in weeks

the Sound of Music spinning

incessantly in my head

the guilty pleasure of a candy hater

reminds me why

sweet is the chocolate demon

that is keeping me

from needed sleep

my sustenance

deprived

my eyes

drying

i feel like i'm dying

a migraine

body pains

it's against my religion

but there really is a devil.

This was so cute! :) I can see how chocolate could be viewed as a demon. For it does have ill effects at times.
My father would get headaches from it as well, but he never was able to say no to it's aluring power!
I would say the milk is the attidote for the power of chocolate. But... then again with milk, comes the prevailing images of Oreo's being dipped with in it! I guess man kind is doomed to be tortured by those pesky chocolate demons for all time!
Wonderful thoughts here!
