Lovers, In Dangerous Times

Lovers, In Dangerous Times

A Chapter by therisa
"

Dedicated to all same-sex partners, living in repressive regimes, around the world.

"
Oh my love
They have made us
Criminals
For our love.

As if
Something
That is
So right
Is so wrong.

In wanting
To share our lives
Together.

Holding hands
Like everyone else
As we walk
Down the street.

Why
Should it matter
If we're both
Of the same sex?

When
Expressing
Ourselves?

Doesn't love know
No boundaries
Except those
We impose
Upon it.

Please
My love
One last kiss
Before they take us
Away.

As our love shines
Like a beacon of hope
In these dangerous times.

Thank you, Perfectlymet. One day, the need for this poem, won't exist.

And your welcome.
Another poignant and timely write from you. And since you know me well and know I have nothing but love in my heart for you I feel safe saying this. I am a Christian and I believe that Biblical marriage is a man and a woman. And so - that is what I have practiced in my own life. However. I am not anyone's judge. My love and your value to me as a friend does not change because our belief systems are different. My goal is to understand you, to support you as you walk out this thing called life and where we differ - know that everyone differs from everyone else. And that's okay. Does that make sense? Your position - you should be able to share that with me without retribution. And I hope you know that you have. If humans worked on loving other humans first and foremost, the world would be less dangerous for all of us. This poem touched my heart, Therisa. Much love to you.
