Starting A Fire With Wet Matches

Starting A Fire With Wet Matches

"Some people get by With a little understanding Some people get by With a whole lot more" Lyrics from "More" by Sisters of Mercy (1989)

"
I'm visible yet invisible
My words are heard yet silent
Shout but am mute
My shadow is dark but light.

Your eyes see us
While your mind refuses to acknowledges
Creating a built-in excuse for inaction
As if we're Cockroaches spotted at your favourite restaurant
Needing to be exterminated with extreme prejudice
No questions asked.

Wonder
Did you ever read your history books
If you did you'll know the power which dreams have
Tapping into a person's inner strength
Providing the necessary drive.

People like
Nelson Mandela
Mahatma Gandhi
Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr
And Malcolm X
Men of vision
Willing to risk their lives for their dreams
Even if this meant they paid the ultimate price
Death.

Where is this passion
Don't see it in North American society
Why has it vanished from our psych geist
Did we buy into the political lie
Offering a few laws or proclaiming a new Constitution
Thinking everything will be ok
No need to show concern or worry
Over the present state of our society
While it collapses around us.

What does it take to spark a revolution
Which society's inequalities are addressed
In a peaceful and just manner
Too many people have died
By hatred and indifference.

Nicely done. I wonder if life is just too easy? Too many choices? too much apathy and not enough ownership - we just don't embrace a cause these days?
Smartly written.

I really enjoyed this write here. Especially what you said about Malcom X, martin Luther King Jr. Deep people there. I am not sure who the other were. I like this it speaks of power and wisdom. Very expressive write.
