Leontes / Procris

Leontes / Procris

A Poem by Anna Mitchell
"

What if Cephalus, the hero of Greek mythology, was as cold as Shakespeare's King Leontes ?

"
I batter myself against your edges

and break in two:

Perfect halves spitting sparks.

I watch myself crumble and fall

under the spear you cast.

I’ve created my own perfect pain,

your black faced centre recoils

at the rich robe I wrap it in

and you stare balefully back,

hounds at your heels,

unyielding rock below,

diamond angles covered in cloud.
