writer

a writer is

someone who writes about what they know

this writer knows suffering

all too well

 

suffering is etched

onto my back

it marks my skin

it cuts me deep

 

words are my only weapon

i can be a lover with a pen

or an enemy with might

 

everyone knows

that a pen

is mightier than a sword

 

it is up to you

which side of the blade you’re on

 

 

for that’s what a writer is

someone who preys on suffering

and turns anguish into art.

A slightly cynical duality in the last stanzas; makes the reader reflect on past writes they have produced! You have poetically strung a nice wordplay flow that poignantly highlights the power of the pen; both for righteous or evil intent - well done - good piece … :-)
