Hopelessness

Hopelessness

A Poem by Sarah Marie

What is there to do
When there is nothing
Left to say?
What else can one do
When all there is
Is to pray?
Times of desperation
Are clouded in dread
Surrounding
One sliver of hope-
One hint of happiness-
One attempt at peace,
Such a faraway idea.
What can one possibly do
When joy refuses
To stay?

Very good, It reminds me of some far away town of which I do not know the name, in the, lets say, seventeenth century, a woman on her knees praying for hope but only finding hopelessness. Atleast that's the picture it conveyed in my mind ^^ Good job!

I actually really enjoyed this Sarah. I like the struggle you have painted here between the balance of desperation and joy. I also like the repetition of "One" towards the end, because it gave your piece great emphasis. The only suggestion I have would may be to play with the first six lines, and go into more detail about your struggle. Make your audience really picture how you feel, but don't give it away.
