Beautiful Heart

Beautiful Heart

A Poem by Sarah Marie

Dear loneliest heart in the crowd,
Afraid to speak aloud
For fear of what others may say-
No way to spend the day.
Disfigured face, you have no need to hide-
Take your marks as your pride;
You flaunt the deepest of haunting scars-
They nearly outnumber the misty stars
And you cannot help but think yourself a fool
In a world too ugly and cruel
For your poor and blemished stare,
And you cannot help but wonder if any others care
About the tears you have cried
In desperation for disguise.
Dear saddened gaze, dry your eyes-
Your beauty is where your heart lies.
