Hopeless

Hopeless

A Poem by Mauricio Montoya

The spoils of riches
is victory,
by greed.
that leaves,
the indigent
with,
war and poverty.
to
a new kingdom
that
rules over you,
and me.
 are we blinded
or is it
we don't want to see
and allow them
to take,
what we believe
that
what makes us free.
when that happens
We live on our knees.

You said a lot in the words Mauricio.
"when that happens
live on your knees."
When someone wins, someone lose. I liked the ending. Once I believe money was everything and now I know. My family is my wealth. Hello from Michigan and thank you for sharing the amazing poetry and your thoughts.

This is a powerful msg about how we become slaves to the habit of consumerism, as if THINGS represent wealth or riches. This says to me that it's short-sighted to compete over basic necessities of life, as if some people deserve to live comfortably & some do not. It's okay for the wealthy to enjoy their wealth, but how can they, when a huge percentage are barely making ends meet on an honest day's work? (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

Truth. Can we change it? I'm not sure. All I can control is me, and even that is difficult. I'll keep trying, for what it's worth. Well written. Thanks for sharing.
