Father In The Sky

Father In The Sky

A Poem by Mauricio Montoya

Father in the sky,

I need to know if you exist,

With all my shame,

Can I rise like the phoenix?

 out of the fire?

And with your water

Drown out

What burns inside?

Because if you don’t exist,

I flap my wings in vain?

Only To reach

An illusion

I always had deep inside.

I can understand how a man standing in heaven might look down upon the earth and question the existence of God. But I cannot fathom how a man standing on earth can look up at heaven and ponder the same question. What is faith but proof of things unseen? An interesting write. I enjoyed the read.

The stars, the sun and moon, forests, oceans... Only God can create these awesome things. Out on the road, apart of all that wonder, I came to know God in ways the Church can never explain. He exists. But I do understand the crisis of faith. We have forgotten His still small voice. But when we are alone in the woods... The birds ding His hymns. The wind speaks His words into our ears. The sighing trees whisper of Him. And we have only to be as the owl: A silent listener growing in wisdom.

On the flipside of this God our Father is saying: Mauricio, Mauricio, I had you in mind before I set the Stars.

You are welcome my friend.
This is a powerful thought provoking poem that many can relate too. How many times in life does one in their anguish and pain ask this most profound question. Thank you for sharing your art.
