my vote

my vote

A Poem by Tinasha LaRayé
"

my thoughts on this election...

"
when will politics turn to service?
when will it not be about ticking people off
or proving others wrong?
when will it not take up arms through hateful words
to downcast the other side?
when will it be about unity and not dividing lines?
when will it not be about colors and animals, but about people?
about reasons to be helpful and not hurtful?
about ways to bring everyone up and not just a few?
about sacrificing and compromising?
about heralding the good news and not glorifying the ugly?
when will it be about humanity?
when will it wash the stains of arrogance and stitch new patches in our American flag?
when will it own up to what it tries to tell the world it is?
when?
when?
my vote is my conviction...my mark of the vision I will join with and yield my submission.
if this race for my mark be this
this thing
this empty thing of charisma
of pretty blue speech
and red washings of brains
to manipulate the score
to implement new doctrine faith tells me to abhor...
well then,
I guess
I'm still waiting for something to vote for.

I totally agree with this poem.
Because we know that real leadership is to truly serve the people.
But it seems nowadays politicians are only self-centred, they
don't give a damn about us. As Michael Jackson rightly said:
'They don't care about us'.

Leaders need to learn from Black Jesus,
when he bent down and washed his disciple's feet,
and when he travelled from area to area to help the poor.
That is the true meaning of serving the people.
Black Jesus could have chosen to ride horses
and chariots, but instead he simply chose to ride a humble, slow donkey.
That is the truest example of a LEADER.

GOOD POEM

In my youth, both politics and religion was something most everyone considered a private thing, not to be blasted to the rooftops or worn on their sleeve, and civility reigned. I wish we could return to that, but am afraid it will never happen. Nowadays, profit trumps all.

I pray there will be a day when politics makes sense, but following Jesus is the best way. I feel Democracy is failing the people and would take a miracle to turn things around. Excellent read and write.
