Night Call

Night Call

A Poem by tmpebbles
"

For anyone who has lost a loved one. This is about getting a "visit" from them

"
You approach me upon a solitary night
Silhouette bathed in the moonlight
I am in awe of this chance encounter
For a long moment, you reside motionless
Admirer’s impulse draws me toward you
I yearn to embrace your soft flesh
To my sadness, you abruptly retreat
Then a smile purses your lips
Renewed hope overwhelms me
With a feather-like caress, you speak
“I will always love you”
Suddenly, I awake
A cold sweat penetrates throughout my body
My eyes dance around an empty room
In shameless repetition, tears sting my cheeks
When will this torture cease?
Perhaps, this all the future holds
Dreams of fate’s costly hand
