St. John's Wort

St. John's Wort

A Poem by Nisreen

Image result for newfoundland

Color splashed sets mumble
Music dripping docile empty drums

Another act to fond-land
Mere glances

Sounds of Irish English dissipating
Newfinese so they say

Thoughts sit here
Is that fish in a sandwich ?

The immediate relay in this head
Oh i love fish

A serene Smile

You sarcastic one
Some tease this is

Fingerprints on paper to date
Highways of green lights

There you go

Looking into me again
Fixated in your air

I can't move

So i hum you away
Cumulus humilis clouds of torture

So do figures known written
Breeze out is but one walk

Bizarrely odd

Shelved out to store
St. John's Wort

Promising all year long rain
Mountain sheer clarity

Enough with the cynicism subliminally waved
Having brushed my music twined into hair

Going for diligence
Pinning up those random shots

If i find your presence
That shall be the last of many

Stand corrected land mines signed
I love you

Signaling at this none ending road
No forks to choose on

Discovering you
Ran series of brain stoppers

To question this reality

Yes a calm
Comprehended fully registered

a change

For seconds i remained polite
Censoring all swear words

I love the voice in this one. And I love the alliteration in this line, "Music dripping docile empty drums". Your word choice is absolutely beautiful. It illuminates the setting and gives it such a great energy. I really like your writing style.

Serendipity,
A really lovely intense expression, like freeflowing connections of thought. It seems like an essay trying to come to terms with a reality of some kind maybe. Well had to read it through a couple times.Found "St John's Wort" refreshing. Thank you for sharing this. It is one more poem to challenge me. Loved it. Kathy

I really like this piece. My brain is usually completing sentences with a natural flow of thought, but this piece kept me guessing because the flow is not congruent with a specific genre - its more like snap shot into the complexity of human psyche - like not trying to make sense of our feelings at a certain time and place. That is refreshing. Plus, the terms are concrete metaphors - less abstract and more like reading a picture- like in terms of creating a setting and character within this poetry. Good stuff!

That's a very insightful remark
Maybe not pain but exposure to my own insecurities

I've been reading this for a few days now, not sure if this is about Newfoundland or an old lover. I like the connective use of disjointed ideas, they all seem to work together. To paraphrase your poem "Bizarrely odd"
Still, I like it.
