I Waited...and for what?

I Waited...and for what?

A Poem by Toni-Lynn Benoit
"

A poem about waiting for something only to find out that it was worthless...

"
Here I am sitting alone,
Just like I was before.
I waited for you to come back to me,
Only for you to shut the door.
You said you still loved me,
And God knows I still loved you too.
But you made me see,
I was just your number two.
You ignore me for days,
and then claim a dog ate your phone.
I am starting to think,
Maybe you just want to be alone...
Or maybe not alone,
But apparently not with me.
And here you kept saying,
That we were ment to be.
You made me believe that I was "the one",
That I was something special.
Only for you to turn around,
And make it seem like I was stressful.
So I guess this is "goodbye" again,
And now I see I waited for nothing.
The only feeliing I have left in my body,
Is the feeling of my heart crushing...

Abandonment is always a welcome theme to poems and you have captured the sense of it quite well with this work. Very well done.
