The Back Aches Will Fade

The Back Aches Will Fade

A Poem by Cindy Marietta
"

Hopefully you catch the pun.

"
I prefer to sleep on the ground.
Snuggled in my sleeping bag
on the hardwood floor
with the window open
is the closest thing I can get
to sleeping under the stars.
My mother bought me a bed,
but it's not for me.
I am not one of those
memory foam
adjustable firmness
heated blanket
kind of people.
I like to think I am more grounded than that.
So when you stay the night,
bring a sleeping bag.
And some painkillers
for the morning.
But not to worry,
the back aches will fade.

I'm beginning to think you are one of Woody Guthries granddaughters... this is the type of writing that you got me hooked to begin with, straight forward, real, honest and full of poetic greatness, you are an untamed wild child that should be wandering the land like Rimbaud, Kerouac, Guthrie and all that were drawn by the chug of trains and whistles...your writing inspires me.
