Standstill

Standstill

A Poem by topsyturvy

Oh how time moves so stealthily

Never seeming to be there

Waiting in pitiful agony

While striving to look like you care

Wringing the hand of time

She waits and mourns the passing of time

Shadow forms in the slight creak of light

Thunder booms, oh what a fright.

Striking beams from the darkened sky

The evil lurks beneath the mistress’ eyes

Wishing for a newborn

The midnight sun wreaks havoc

All aloof amidst the watermarks

The blue lagoon is nowhere in sight.

I got from this the glaring selfishness of our genes in the evolution of time, how instinct rules over reason and how the heart can pull a life through it or take our lives by the horns. Time is I think one of the epic topics of poetry.

I love your use of words and how you intend to use them in your meanings through your verse...they flow very well.
