Alice & Her Wonderland

Alice & Her Wonderland

A Poem by Basil Piazza
"

A littl girl in her world of something absoultly impossible

"
I often dream of this world, the stabs of color bright
And vivacious as they are, they swirl and twist into shades
Of black and white, forming splashes of gray at the corners.
This world is my world, but where are you?

Tonight is a dream of the sharpest tone of black,
And the most putrid of red, sticking and dripping
Unto everything in my path to hide every wilted petal.
Every shorn twig and leaf, covered in thick crimson.

The two headed raptors soaring through the grey sky,
Fighting amongst itself, in a torrid affair of love and wings,
And hatred for the silver moon onto which my eyes are hung.
Ah, there you are, so splendent to my dark and dreary eyes.

I indulge myself in the radiance you've cast upon my face,
My vision returns to my wonderland to watch
The world churn about, bubbling and waning
Like the tide of the ocean sighing against its shore.

Your reflection floats atop the water, singing to me
Of the sweetest melody one's heart could ever yearn,
Fixated on your tumultuous dance and sway,
The dull throb of my heart is lost in this, my wonderland.
