Shape-changer

Shape-changer

A Poem by Kris Tate

Shed my skin
Become someone new
Peel back the layers
Find some other
Some dark demon kin
Stained teeth that chew
A presence only for the soothsayers
Dark fate that will smother

Pull on new skin
Take over their purity
Live their life
Love their loves
Trying to fit in
Leave my darkness in obscurity
Hide all my strife
Keep in all that shoves

The evil inside
Blows its way out
I am me again
Kill all that good
The innocent already died
With one good clout
Because I am the bane
They just think me misunderstood

Pull off the innocent’s skin
Time to move on
Been doing this for centuries
Such is the evils
That are demon kin
More innocence gone
No more fun in the these
I am the one, the evil.
