Death By Love

Death By Love

A Poem by Deanna Ballard

Verse 1
You touched my heart
But left remains
Of my own blood
Forever stains
You promised love
Almost true
What a fool I was
To give me to you
While you laughed
I cried
While I hurt
You lied
I'd turn the tides
But myself, I'd deny

Chorus
Call me river because I cry for you
You bath in red while I drown in blue
You swim away and leave me waiting for you
I die in place and my body's proof

Verse 2
The night it occured
Hunts my dreams
My timid whispers
And your brutal screams
I thought this confrontation
Would clarify things
But I guess it was an inevitable
Ends to a means
I wanted a simple truth
Which you couldn't give
So I chose this dead life
Only one life to live
It's better than dying with you
Or is it? I'm so confused

Chorus
Call me river because I cry for you
You bath in red while I drown in blue
You swim away and leave me waiting for you
I die in place and my body's proof

Bridge
When my heart burst
You clearly didn't care
You walked away from me
Though I didn't have a spare

When my eyes rained
A dry place you found
You walked away from me
While in me, I drowned

Chorus
Call me river because I cry for you
You bath in red while I drown in blue
You swim away and leave me waiting for you
I die in place and my body's proof
