This belief in indiscretion

for the sake of retrieving our discarded halos

fails to justify the exposure sought

prior to accepting my tears as forgiveness

for referring to your silence as “dying” …

… ceding sympathy (not yet concealed)

as a fading desire to smile and plead

“don’t stop to surrender”
