saying goodbye

saying goodbye

A Poem by Will Van Stone, Jr

time can pass so slowly
when the devil weeps for you
as the fates weave a future
were the one who'll lose is you
no matter how you hold tight
and fight that destiny
at last you can only realize
it is meant to be
though it doesn’t make it easy
and rarely even right
the pain that what be done can cause you
to wish for no more fight
place down your arms
cast aside
the role you play
step away
take a bow
no longer a guide
through the blackest night
far from peace
your soul do tread
to journey on
forever more
knowing it
will end
nevermore
the smiles do fade
as the tears do whelm
wondering was it all in vain
but you move on
to another day
afraid not
of what lay
all thats left
behind the pain
is saying goodbye
again
and
again
