In the Boat

I am he

a great fish

that was caught when small

many was the time 

that I broke away

and did not follow his line

but when I was old

I jumped into the boat

that my flesh would not die

but that I should be taken whole

to the great sea 

which is in heaven

as I am

thee great fish

why saith thee

“We have never heard of such a thing,”

and seek to ask me,

“How can this be?” 

and, “What do you mean?”?

if my father

had not given it to me

I could not have known

to jump into the boat

but my way is true

even as my brother says of me

if you believed him

you would believe me

but you believe me not

he knew nothing of me

until I jumped in the boat

except this one thing

I had a death wish

from a demon

there is no fish greater than I

the son of my Brother

it has never been better than this

Why do you seek to kill me also?
