Masked

Masked

A Poem by unexpectedsparkle

you're under a mask, buried deep inside
no one can see the hurt you hide.
you can act happy, sad, or anything you choose,
while no one sees how much you're bruised.
it hurts so bad but no one knows.
your face never telling of what the unknown blows.
you're not alone in your facade
even if some treat it like a silly game to be played.
trust me, it's not, because its members know
it's a place to live and hide, deep below.

we sometimes wear a mask so people won't see our feelings and we won't have to justify them. This is really nice.

We all wear a mask at times, I believe. Even the most open among us only presents the face they want the public to see. This poem could be about almost any one of us, and therefore it is relatable to any reader.

I enjoyed your little rhyming couplets about someone hiding underneath their mask. Some of your couplets have a good cadence to them. I noticed the how you're inspired to think of this behavior as a game perhaps through your experience with the game of soccer. Many live and hide within the games that they play as an alternative for a life that brings them disappointments.
