The Pain I Feel

The Pain I Feel

A Poem by Rachel McLean

You promised me love
You promised me hope
You said that you'd be by my side,
for the rest of eternity

I cherished the warmth that you gave,
I desired the sound of your voice,

If only I'd realized,
that your love was fake,
your rancid words held no meaning,
and the times we were with each other,
were only spent in vain.

You'll never come to understand
The pain that I've felt

As i spend the rest of this miserable life,
thinking about you,
missing you,
and above all,
somehow still loving you.

Rachel McLean
Like most of my poems, this wasn't inspired by a real event that happened in my life. However, i still hope it can paint a realistic picture of romance & heartbreak for those who read it.

I feel this really is about your life. But, that's okay. It's not my business to pry.

Love is a strange thing. We feel so in love with people. And when they hurt us, we still can't help but still love them. That is, until we reach the point where we grow to resent them.

Thanks for sharing.

About
So, I haven't been writing for very long, but I definitely hope to improve. I prefer to do stories and novels, however my main purpose here is to work on my poetry. Other than writing, I love reading .. more..
