Beware the Ides of March

Beware the Ides of March

A Poem by RJM

BEWARE THE IDES OF MARCH

Beware the ides of march
my friends, a day of betrayal
and of sorrow most bitter

A day of white robed traitors
and their humble hapless victims
Beware the ides of march!

Beware the ides of march,
all you righteous ones!
Beware the ides of march!
Lest your mourning tongues
be stilled

Beware the ides of march!
For it brings nothing but doom

Mmm...kind of generic language, not much rhythm, and no deeper meaning since it was explained to be very mundane before the poem. 3/10.

The poem internal struggle and warning remind me of a Mark Twain type poetry. I like how you describe with the feel of fear and chaos. A strong ending to a excellent poem.
