Laundry Day

Laundry Day

A Poem by Vanessa Pavelock

I undress my soul

removing each

article of clothing

one by one

and dropping

it to the

floor

on laundry

day I never

know which

pair of jeans

are clean

and which

are dirty

so I separate

the darks

from the

lights and

the delicates

from the

hardy

load them

into the washer

and wait

for each cycle

of already

clean clothes

to finish
