Oblivion

Oblivion

A Poem by Vidya Bacchus
"

Sometimes you just want to sink.

"
                                                                          Oblivion

My pain is my own,
Yet you stand there with your pity,
And "I know how you feel"
How could you? Why would you want to?
I wish to feel numb safe from this torment,
And you want to "understand this feeling"
I want to be appreciative and grateful,
For your kindness but I'm hurt,
And you don't understand,
And no, you have no inkling of my sorrow,
Leave me be,
Let me drown in nothingness.
And if you are my friend,
And you want to ease my pain,
You will meet me on the other side,
Where your kindness isn't like a thorn,
Digging deeper into my wound,
But a healing salve on my aching heart.

I agree Vidya, As much as friends or loved ones would love to rid you of your pain or stand there and say they understand, it's not always the case. Some pain cannot always be easy to understand let alone express. Nicely done Vidya.

Thank you Rob.Sometimes you can hold someone's hand and say nothing and it can mean more than words .. read more
Such situations are when the heart is truly aching and it needs no advice, just uquestioning affection and care.

Again, your structuring has added to the flow. The metaphors and imagery is good, too.
So glad, you visited my page.

I am glad I visited your page too and I plan to visit again.Thank you Stone :)
I find i a little annoying when that comment came in "I understand how you feel". Fairly patronizing thing to say as well. The itneresting thing to gatheer from this very emotiona lwriting is when you tell him Why would you want to feel what I feel? I tend to get angry yet you acknowledge and not only that yu proceeded to describe to him what the nature of friendship could do in that occasion.

Incedibily understanding.

Thankyou

we can feel some kind of emapthy...but really...the best response is "i can't begin to know how you feel, but if there is anything i can do to ease the pain..."

Achingly beautiful and touching. The state of numbness is in the lala land of oblivion. You are inclined to drown in the nothingness but your wounded heart will keep you afloat...An excellent write Vidya...:)......

We all need that healing salve at some points my friend...it's such a tough situation though...we want and we need friends to be there for us when problems arise, and we want people to understand, but the truth is, nobody can truly understand the troubles that another person may be going through...even our closest friends just can't live in our shoe...I know how frustrating it is to have some people (not my close friends of course) claim to understand what I'm going through with certain issues when I know for a fact that they don't...you've done a splendid job of capturing that feeling here...I could just feel the emotional tug-of-war in this piece and relate to it deeply...well-said Vidya, and of course well-written :)

oh my goodness!! girl!! This one hit home with a killing blow.. wow... I can so relate to this and you expressed with such emotion and clarity that it is stunning... you don't always know what someone is going through and sometimes you just need to shut your dang mouth and let them be, and just be there... heck yes!!! LOVE this..

Thank you ma'am that sounds about right.Thank you my favorite month of the year :)
I couldn't agree with you more. Sometimes, not always, a touch of hands is best before the soother leaves but that may be more for them than sufferer.
