Again

Again

A Poem by Lauren N. Rodriguez

And again we lie before the same old stage
Amongst the tattered curtains
And scripts of ripped pages

We face the creaking floor
Scarred surfaces
And hidden traps
Dimming lights
Of forgotten shadows
We sit in the dark
Amongst the gallows

And no ordinary play we've chosen to see
Not of comedy and joyful tears
But
Of broken smiles
And
Hurtful sears

No worries though,
Please,
Take your seat...
Sink in low,
Sink in deep;
For what you'll watch
Are only the secrets I keep

And again I shall warn you,
Tell you this isn't your ordinary muse,
But
When you've seen this half a dozen times;
You really have nothing to lose.
