Unspoken Goodbye

Unspoken Goodbye

A Poem by Traci

With old wounds, and a burden to carry

silence breaks my spirit, emptiness fills my soul

my heart whole, but obliterated,

shattered like glass in a picture frame.

Like a perilous drug I am addicted to your sweet memory

as detrimental as that may be

venom to my soul are your secrets, truths you couldn’t declare

deep lingering demons, seeping into my skin,

staying like a thick coat of oil, intimately, beguiling my senses.

Mixed drinks filled with desolation are my eyes,

painted as dark as nightfall, glossy,

like a glazed piece of pottery, fresh out of the kiln.

Blackness enfolds, time seeming to evanesce

in the graveyard of my thoughts,

angry, hurt and betrayed, thunder rumbles inside,

a fountain of tears descend, like water out of a leaky facet

a colossal of words tacit.

Abandoned in the tyranny of time

an invisible person in this world I become

infinitely searching humanity

for a small slice of dignity

in the wreckage of an unspoken goodbye.

Before it began it was already over. Life is fleeting and it passes by us before we realize what we truly find important. You have a way with words, so expressing something on the tip of your soul comes easier to you than most and with us, you share this gift on how to say what needs to be said before it's too late. We need to seize being ignorant and start changing ourselves and appreciating the gift of life for there are far too many unspoken goodbyes and a world that will eventually go silent. Traci I love the way you write, your thought process and also the choice of words and how you structure them to flow. You are one of the best!

Hugs, Traci. Know you too well, too long to say too much. Truth hurts like hell, but silence, contrivance and even tall stories for want of better words, hurt so moe - we know that. Your words tip the balance on what can and might happen. Your words here, now.. strike me as have a more intense vunerability..
'.. my eyes, painted as dark as nightfall, glossy, ~ like a glazed piece of pottery, fresh out of the kiln. '
what a way to describe the result of turning away, cruelly and cowardly. Must stress though, dear you.. you show amazing 'survival of the fittest'..

Unspoken goodbyes need to be spoken otherwise it causes us to die a bit more each day inside- letting go of it all internally externally is the only way- cutting spiritual ties- correcting lies- to yourself and others- truth is the only way- face the fear and do it anyway- wonderful words and deep emotions🌹

You have just made my day with this review. Thank you!
dear Traci, my new friend, first let me tell You how much I love and respect Your little poem in Your "about me", how very true Your words are, those who stand in their trails with their true Souls, only to progress, and after reading this poem, I can imagine how much of a real Soul You are.

there isn't pain, there is a bursting pain coming from each of Your lines, deep darkness, deep gloominess, like a night's storm over a sea, Your last verse hit everything You want to say in Your poem, "hurtingly" moving us, I pray You are now better my friend, much better!

countless sparkling wishes I send You~~~

This made me feel. In a very visceral way I kinda love this poem.

Intellectually it ain't so bad either.

As we all turn to dust eventually.... I like your style Traci. I like it a lot.

There’s nothing worse than an unspoken goodbye. But with today’s convenience of electronic connections, nowadays this is the norm. I remember how the first five or six devastated me, just like you describe so well in your poem, with a ton of imagery to show how wretched it can feel. Now I’ve had so many unspoken goodbyes, I even started doing it myself. Sad how our social graces seem to be dumbing down. Your imagery is popping with intensity for all the senses (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

Thank you so much, my friend!
I believe the most of us are what you stated in the below lines.
"Abandoned in the tyranny of time
an invisible person in this world I become
infinitely searching humanity
for a small slice of dignity
in the wreckage of an unspoken goodbye."
World gone colder. We need to lead with concern, kindness and to listen. Powerful and worthwhile poetry shared Traci.
