Essence of Time

Essence of Time

A Poem by Traci

Life changes with the seasons

besieging humanity with rays of sunshine and torrential downpours

For one family an unadulterated soul enters the world

at dim twilight

Mom and Dad marvel at the beauty of new life

as they catch the first glimpse of their newborn son

his birth symbolizes a succession of changes,

so gentle and tranquil, as a pitter patter of tiny footprints

fill many lives with a capacity of love and goodness

A very poignant and emotional day for others

sons and daughters graduate, a milestone worth celebrating

soldiers come home from war, surprising their loved ones

and two childhood sweethearts tie the knot along sandy shores

All superior moments we wish could be bottled in time -

For another family, today denotes a love lost much too soon

amid grief that dares not speak its name aloud

the profound melancholy that gripped her,

demons that lied, eventually claimed her bruised soul

perchance her life of love, though it was mingled with agony

can teach others how to regain hope in times of darkness

and celebrate their most cherished memories of tomorrow

Life does not begin at birth nor does it end at death

like an ephemeral capsule, eras are finite assets

the salient features of history captured and preserved

Keepsakes travel to the far corners of the Earth

and to the cordial depths of our pillar's heart and soul.

amity is the veritable measure of life

merging truth, mortality, purity and love

the essence of time well spent

Author's Note

the most exquisite gift our spirit of joy and generosity can give another is our time

I agree with the statement in your author’s note. I believe people in general are craving more time & attention from others. Look at social media, everyone is clamoring to be heard. So many are depressed & feeling unworthy from lack of time & attention. People want it, but nobody’s giving it. I believe that choosing to be a parent is the most selfless thing a person can do, even tho some parents are not up to the task. I never had kids becuz I knew I would not be equal to the requirements. You describe how this can go in families using true-to-life details that we see all the time in relationships. Your poem starts out with a wholehearted tone, but toward the end, the language starts to feel a little elevated & complex, which takes away from the warmth your message starts out with (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

Time is if easence , waits for nobody but teaches all- truthful and spirit filled- love the way you write of demons- oh the truth of that that people are to afraid to acknowledge- wherein lies many truths - demonic rhelm destroys many lives- if only eyes would see and ears would hear - life passes by time moves on if we don’t count the seconds eternity disappears before our very eyes stealing souls along the way - wonderful like always- truth prevails🌹

Thank you so much...your words truly mean a lot to me. I'm grateful that you read and review my work.. read more
I've read some poems from You till now, and in most of them I felt this deep anguish, somewhere, hidden or revealed, and I feel that You've went through a lot, through so much, that You don't care care so much about Your own pain, though it's still unbearable sometime, but You look around to feel the pain of others, to understand and paint it into words, then to carry hope, from Your own experiences and life, it's like You are healing Your self by reaching and healing others, the power of Your poems lays at the ending verses, giving us the facts, of life and death, the past, future and now, then to lit the solution leaving us to chose what we want, how we want to spend our life our time...

Thank You dear Traci for pouring the essences of Your depths in all what You share with us, hugs***
