The Birth of Something in the Heart

The Birth of Something in the Heart

That funny feeling of falling in love

THE BIRTH OF SOMETHING IN THE HEART

The birth of something in the heart

bursts forth from within

like the birth of a star in the night sky

a dim flicker in dark space, but look closer

its luminosity brings new life with its radiant heat

uncertain of its origin, only aware that it is

Its essence is incandescence expanding its reach

seeking and desiring its counterpart

It wants what it wants, reason is no matter

Selfish about its selflessness, courageous and timid

It rises from the terrestrial plane,

drawn into the orbit of another

awakening from its cool slumber

It’s glow a beacon, a destination once mysterious

They meet, abounding in new radiance

Touching fingers woven, tightly stitched and bonded

they blanket each other in their blaze

The light makes something else of night

Their warmth turns feeling to knowing

Love is the thing between them that glows

I know, they say to one another, I know

How to describe that fire of love...such an intensity, that only a look can describe, sometimes, this is perfect, beautiful xo

You are very kind. Thank you for reading and reviewing my poem. I'm so pleased you liked it.
to explain the un-explainable, to give a name to the nameless, that is what you have done exquisitely here my friend.. I had to read several times savoring each line for the treasures they are.. the imagery and emotion captured in such a mystical, enchanting, magical way as you tickle the mind and caress the heart. I was excited when I saw a new addition by you and must say, I was not disappointed.. this is easily going into my favorites to come back and enjoy.. the luminous heated beacon that calls with its incandescent essence.... alluring with its comforting arousal and stimulation..... the knowing that follows is what it is all about my friend.. stunning!..

A really nice and expansive piece. I forget sometimes what love's spark can do for someone... Very nice use of descriptions and it was balanced throughout the poem. Read it twice for good measure...

So well written and truly excellent. The spark of love as something celestial--that's a wonderful idea. It was years ago for me, but new love's impact can never be forgotten.

There is a soft rhythm that beats throughout your poem. I feel it read quietly or in a whisper, it's words wafting around the poet. Births can be loud but this cadence you have created draws the reader's eyes with a gesture instead of a call and I found that these lines really spoke to me:

Its selfish about its selflessness, courageous and timid
it rises from the terrestrial plane,
drawn into the orbit of another

It can be no other way. Just lovely.

Thank you Woody. I'm please that you like it.
This is amazing. The title is perfect. You've described the birth of love sprouting out of a connection from someone that has come into another's life. Such detail and imagery. Beautifully written I mean that. It's difficult to really say what I want to say. Your poem touched me deeply. I'm so glad I came across your poem
