(30) Johnny Please Don't Cry

(30) Johnny Please Don't Cry

A Poem by Chris Smith Welshpoetcs
"

There are those who hide, afraid to come into the light. Bullying is felt but rarely seen.

"

He always was a shy boy
Always found life to enjoy
They picked on him one day
They took his enjoyment away

They would put bugs in his hair
He thought his teachers didn't care
They called him every bad name
Said that being strange was to blame

Hurt him and caused him pain
Pushed him over in the rain
They even spat in his face
Told him he was a disgrace

Johnny please don't cry
I know you just want to die
Johnny I don't know why
It's easy when you try

I wish the bullies would just go away
Leave Johnny alone for only one day
There are too many boys and girls in tears
Too many bullied face suicide these years

Poor Johnny couldn't take any more
Found him hanging from off the floor
Poor Johnny is one of the dead
We should kill bullying instead

Hem... I... Wow, Chris, just wow. How come you know how well to write words, when others barely know how to speak them? It's amazing, really, and I can't seem to find the correct words to describe this. Why bother? You've written it, I've read it, and it's done. I see your point clearly, and, well... wow...

--a brilliant ending to a very good poem! powerful words, sad but very realistic.

A very sad poem. No excuse for abuse or bullying. We live in a world where all people seek perfection and are cold to people who don't need the same. A powerful poem with some wisdom if your listen to the words.

what an ending! sadly true.. if faces were to reflect inner beauty, this world would be occupied by very ugly creatures. Added to my faves!

Hell Chris, this reads like a UK Subs song from the early '80's. It would make a good fast song. Makes me think of all the suicides in Bridgend down our way.......
Bullying is so s***e, ruins lives so... x

This captures the relentlessness of bullying, the feeling of no escape. The last line is a powerful statement calling us all to stand up for truth and justice.
