(30) Johnny Please Don't Cry

(30) Johnny Please Don't Cry

A Poem by Chris Smith Welshpoetcs
"

There are those who hide, afraid to come into the light. Bullying is felt but rarely seen.

"

He always was a shy boy
Always found life to enjoy
They picked on him one day
They took his enjoyment away

They would put bugs in his hair
He thought his teachers didn't care
They called him every bad name
Said that being strange was to blame

Hurt him and caused him pain
Pushed him over in the rain
They even spat in his face
Told him he was a disgrace

Johnny please don't cry
I know you just want to die
Johnny I don't know why
It's easy when you try

I wish the bullies would just go away
Leave Johnny alone for only one day
There are too many boys and girls in tears
Too many bullied face suicide these years

Poor Johnny couldn't take any more
Found him hanging from off the floor
Poor Johnny is one of the dead
We should kill bullying instead

Hem... I... Wow, Chris, just wow. How come you know how well to write words, when others barely know how to speak them? It's amazing, really, and I can't seem to find the correct words to describe this. Why bother? You've written it, I've read it, and it's done. I see your point clearly, and, well... wow...

This in its form poem is very well done, in its narrative it is poignant, truth and speaks with tremendous grace for such a twisted experience. ~ Rose

I doubt there will ever be a stop to bullying. I was a victim, I would of ended the same way as Johnny, It's sad. They say those bullies were victims too but somehow i doubt that. It was all about popularity, and putting those that don't fit in, out. I hate it. I feel this poem, it runs deep. But well written one...

This is a harsh subject and you penned it well Chris.. Bullying of any kind is a crime. To think of how many lives have been taken because of it just is so sad.. Thank you for writing this and bringing your thoughts to light...xx

Such a heartfelt poem. I think most people have been bullied at least once in their lives.. it is an epidemic that is sickening. Your describes the usual effect from being bullied. Powerful language and a great write.

Great work! A heart touching piece for everyone touched by bullies, and parents of children. Schools these days are much more aware it seems but now bullying is over the net, by text and by cellphone. it's a pervasive bug that should be squashed.

Great poem, I echo Angelina, one of the best poems out there on bullying.
I've never really been bullied but seen it happened tons. I'm always the one standing up for people being bullied, I never bully! It really is a rough thing for kids, we're all equal so it makes me sad to see kids put down others. But they're the insecure ones!
I disagree with the last line though, fighting back wont solve anything with a bully.
A great poem! So truthful!

Yes, it would be nice to put a stop to bullying. It has been going on since the dawn of time, but it seems people are more affected by it nowadays. I was bullied as a young child, and it turned me mean in high school, got me into a lot of fights. This is a tragic piece, but heartfelt in its reality.

Nice Write!
RLG,
Tommy
