Removing the Veil

Removing the Veil

A Poem by Anne Hill

There you stand

You lie I know

I shut my eyes and filter your words to truth

So I lie to myself

It makes you look all the better

Where is that spring sky?

None can be found in your eyes

None but the dirt of the ground

Where is the beauty of the artistically inclined?

None produced from your mind.

Where are the promises you spoke?

Swept over the oceans that separate us

With my foolish pride clinging still to them

None of your qualities are that of which I’ve ever desired before

Only I can remove this vale from my eyes

Which was set there for you

Author's Note

Anne Hill
This used to be "Removing the Vale." However, I changed the spelling to the correct way because people didn't understand why I had it the other way, I didn't want to look stupid.
