To Save a Life.

To Save a Life.

A Poem by Grimm
"

When joy turns to horror.

"

Today was their day, a day to enjoy.

He dreamt of this moment since he was a boy.

He purchased a boat to escape with his wife.

To travel the oceans, to start a new life.

His knowledge of boats was basic at best.

So best bring your parents to help and suggest.

His father, a sailor of years that have past.

His mother, so proud, this moment at last.

So take on provisions and fill up with fuel.

Turn on the air vents for that was the rule.

Blow out those vapors avoid all the fumes.

The air vents are working, they all just assume.

But sadly the vessel was not up to scratch.

He purchased a lemon, he needed to patch.

The owner was evil to sell him this boat.

All bright and shiny, the paints brand new coat.

Electrics were faulty, no test did they pass.

The engines turned over but failed alas.

A spark from the wires ignited the fumes.

His mother, his father for them danger looms.

I sat in my office, and shook with surprise.

The blast and the flames, they could not disguise.

A tragedy came to visit that day.

I ran for the fuel dock without time to pray.

I rescued his wife, with 2 broken legs,

I pulled him to safety, he started to beg.

"My mother,  my father, what have I done?

The man who knew little was their favorite son.

I pull them to safety, continue to search.

The boat is in pieces when it starts to lurch.

No sign of his parents,  lost to the sea.

The flames on the water  shimmer with glee.

The heat burns my face as I try to look.

The fuel dock explodes for my body shook.

Their death sorrounds me, to save I can not,

The flames are growing, the fire's too hot.

I comfort the man who lives with this shock.

I blame him for nothing,  this day on the dock.

His wife will recover, for that he shows thanks.

The loss of his parents, we watch from the banks.

I pray for this man, please comfort his fears.

Plague no guilty verdict when his time is near.

To the man who sold him the boat of his dreams.

A passage to hell, eternity screams........

Goosebumps and tears. Tomorrow when I see you I swear I'm gonna hug you and break a rib! The story is haunting and yes that man that sold it to him does deserve to go to hell. The faact that I know you makes this real but I was not there. The way you use words to grab the reader, suck them and see through your eyes. I felt as though I was there it was so real. Not only are you an amazing person, but you have an incredible gift. And if you tell anyone I cry I will...well i'll still hug you! F*****g awesome poem hun!

A sad story indeed- You captured the horror of the event in rhyme -a hard feat to do considering the gravity of the story- Poetic storytelling is a favorite of mine and you did it well-

I was born and raised and worked on boats commercial fishing and marine construction. I felt this poem. I've been around similar things and can say you really captured that day. I was there with you. You did well that day and your compassionate viewpoint is honorable.

I love the rhyme. I can this a classic feel. Well done.
