The Look

The Look

A Poem by Doug Ordunio
"

Something written in 2005 about no one in particular

"

That languid faraway look she wore

Like comfortable satin slippers

I missed it most when she was gone

It would inhabit her face during lovemaking

When she wasn’t staring deeply into my eyes

As copious tears issued forth

Her body a warm pungent harbor

With secretive docks and slips where I would spend the night

Delighting in her flora and fauna

The look was everything

Simultaneous distance and closeness

Involved but aloof

Inviting but fearful

The desire to engulf totally

Your poem is very sensual. I loved the use of metaphors in the poem. The third stanza is lovely. Well written poem.
